The Best Way to Look For a Job Right Now

By Nezrul Hisyam Abdul Ghani

Before I dive right into the topic, allow me to share a brief background why I feel I am capable of addressing it. You better believe that subject like this is not taught in any school or college and only good experience can really put you through what it takes which I had a lot of these recent years.
First, I changed my job at the peak of my career success. I was a sales rep selling for a pharmaceutical company in the Hospital channel. I jump to another company which concentrates on the General Practitioner and retail market.
Next, I enrolled in the company 'voluntary separation scheme' in the beginning of 2007. The world was in the midst of economic turmoil and the company I represent was having a major worldwide issue with drug safety, and was taken off the market.
They have to downsize to match the production and revenue number. The sales force was included and I was included in it.
Then, I land a new job in a totally new field but still in the same industry; health care. This time, I got my hands on diagnostic sale which is a new territory to my knowledge and skills. It was rewarding nonetheless since I successfully bag most of the incentive payout even though I joined less than a year compared to some of my colleagues.
All in all, three jobs in a span of less than a decade. I know that some of you easily surpass me with the number but that is not the point. The point I am trying to hit home is; I land on the right job at the right time.

And I got paid handsomely every time too, which brings me to the crux of the matter at hand and that is; the best strategy to get that job you deserved is to scout within your community.

That means you start within your industry and expertise, and if needs be, you expand from there. For example, you are a sales person. You know how to sell which is true in my case. So when I planned to make a career switch, the first place I look is within my industry which offers relevant opportunity.

That is how I land on sales job in pharmaceutical and health care industry every time.

But if that does not work, the next best choice is to look for opportunity that matches your competency, like sales and marketing, in my example. Even though I jump into a new company that position itself in the diagnostic area, the skills needed to sell and market are essentially the same.

Have you identified your present industry and your skills that match to it? Can you spot any other opportunity elsewhere that requires what you currently have?

Employment in the Auto Industry - Detailing Jobs

By T. Blake Faber

Despite the hardships some dealerships and auto industry titans may be experiencing, employment in the automobile industry as detailers and car washers are still hopping.

Often viewed as a necessary evil by many dealerships, the wash and detail are has become a source of profit and improved CSI (Customer Service Index) by many. This has opened up new opportunities for employment for those with the skills, determination and disciplined to become good and fast.

Auto detailing and car wash jobs have traditionally been lower paying and minimal in career opportunities. The largest perceived demand for these positions have either been with the solo-practitioner or entrepreneur or as part of team at the local car wash. This left many with little forward or upperward career movement and dead-end jobs.

With the increasing popularity of dealerships outsourcing their detailing departments, employment, job diversity and career opportunities have broadened and grown. More specifically, there are companies that specialize in "taking over" the prep, make ready, detailing and wash services of dealerships. This allows the dealership to focus on their core strengths - selling and servicing new, pre-owned and used cars.

The result is that outsourcing companies that provide and staff these services now have a need for detailers and technicians who are trained or can be trained in the art of detailing - namely - buffing, polishing, PDR (paintless dent repair), interior repair, odor removal, headlight restoration, and a host of other reconditioning (Recon) services.

The employment opportunities don't stop there. As these companies become larger, they require the need of trainers, area operations management, sale people, marketing managers, regional management, accounting and finance and even IT - as many of these firms begin adopting technology for managing their businesses.

If you are looking for employment in the auto detailing field, joining a large growing firm may be your best step for training, advancement and career success.

Prepare for the Future With Photovoltaic Courses

By James Coppe

There's a lot of talk these days about renewable energy. We hear all the time that the age of oil is quickly passing behind us, and that we need to find alternative energy sources that are not so destructive to our economy and our environment. One of the most talked about, and promising, forms of renewable, alternative energy is solar power or photovoltaic energy. PV energy has been around for some time now, but it feels like it is finally coming into its own. Not only is the technology improving, but the price of the panels is falling and people are becoming more and more aware of its benefits. If you are looking to expand your skill-set and be prepared for the coming century of energy, you owe it to yourself to take some photovoltaic courses.

Photovoltaic courses help to provide those people who have a personal or professional interest in the solar industry with both entry level and ongoing training. The most basic courses will teach you everything you need to know to get started. Entry level courses will teach you the history of PV energy and where it came from; what the markets for these types of energy are; everything you need to know about safety practices and regulations of the technology; how the technology can be expected to perform, and how it will respond to its environment; how to install the basic systems; how to do basic troubleshooting, and how to properly inspect the systems.

All legitimate organizations offering photovoltaic courses will meet all the standards of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). In fact, it was NABCEP that set the standards and administers the testing to ensure that everybody working in the field is up to speed. Those who pass the course will receive a certificate that states the recipient has all the basic knowledge they need to work with solar energy.

Now, Photovoltaic courses aren't only designed with engineers in mind. Because this is such a big shift in our energy sector and economy, it's important for many different aspects of industry to be knowledgeable about the new energy source. While there is plenty of demand for people who know how to install, engineer, assemble, manufacture and improve on photovoltaic technology, there are just as many people who need to learn how to sell and market the technology, to both consumers and industries. Additionally, there is a great need for managers and administrators to get up to speed quickly on the new technology, and there are photovoltaic courses designed with these important auxiliary personal in mind.

PV energy is on the cutting edge of emerging technologies, and photovoltaic courses are a great way to get started in the field. Once you have completed your initial basic training, there are many courses to take after that. Like all technologies that you might work with, it's important that you understand the need for continuing education. Just because you have the basics down doesn't mean you'll be forever prepared for everything the market will deliver.

IT Staffing Solutions

By Mike Danick

Has your company reached a point where you are considering using an IT staffing company to help you with your technical hiring needs? As a hiring manager, you may feel overwhelmed with the amount of candidates out there, and you likely don't have nearly enough time to find the right matches for the available positions at your company. Requesting the assistance of a third party recruiter may save you a ton of time and effort, while freeing you up to take care of more pressing issues at your job. If you have never worked with an IT staffing company before you probably have some valid questions and concerns that need to be answered before you choose the right recruiting firm.

First you should figure out if you need to hire staff on a permanent or contract basis. If the positions you are attempting to fill are permanent positions, an IT staffing firm will typically request a fee based on a percentage of the candidates first year salary. This percentage is typically negotiable with most firms. It is in both parties best interests that this fee be negotiated prior to the candidate submittal process. There should also be a stipulation in the contract which defines a period of time where if the candidate does not work out and is let go, a full or partial refund, or future credit is given to your company. This probationary time frame is usually anywhere between 30 and 90 days.

It may be a better option for you to hire your IT employees on a contractual basis. This enables your company to gain the assistance it needs for a specified period of time. A contract usually last 3, 6, or 12 months. During this period, the worker is an employee of the IT staffing firm, contracted out to you for the entire contract period. The staffing company takes care of the payroll while the employee works on your project. Sometimes the hiring company and the recruiting firm will work out a contract-to-hire agreement, allowing the company to hire the employee to a permanent position at the end of the contract period. There is typically a conversion fee associated with this type of scenario based on the salary offered to the employee. This is a great way for your company to get to know an employee without making a hiring commitment right away.

There are plenty of ways that an IT staffing company can help you hire the employees you need to do the job. These agencies typically have relationships with some of the best and brightest IT professionals in the industry, and these candidates aren't easily found on the usual employment boards. Depending on your companies hiring needs, working with an IT staffing firm can help lift your company's IT department to a higher, more productive level.

Best Workout Routines to Get Prepared for the Police Academy

By EL Forestal

Don't know what are the best workouts to do as you prepare for the police academy? Find out right in this article what workout routines are best as you prepare for your upcoming training. Preparing for the police academy is probably one of the single most important thing you can do. The truth is if you arrive at the training academy out of shape or over weight, you might as well turn around and go home. Why? Because you won't survive the police academy. It's really that simple.

You see, many law enforcement training institutions have an entrance fitness test, as well as an exit physical fitness test. So if you show up in poor physical conditioning, you won't be allowed in anyways. There are several workouts that you can do as you prepare for the police officer academy, but the one that stacks above the rest is high intensity interval training (also known as H.I.I.T).

High intensity interval training is by far the best workout routine to do as you prepare for the law enforcement academy. Why? Because you are training your anaerobic power, as well as your aerobic capacity. Both of which are extremely valuable if you want to pass the academy.

High intensity interval training consist of doing a high impact exercise like a full speed sprint for about 60 seconds, followed by a low impact training exercise like a slow-paced jog for 60 seconds. You can alternate between high impact training and low impact training for about 30 minutes.

The combination of slow and fast pace training will get you in elite shape fast.

Career Comes First

By Boya Fernando

Why do we need to assess our self in order to be in the line to find what we are passionate about? If this question is hard to digest, than we need to simplify it. One of the most important factor in life is work. Yes, in order to make the financial side rolling, a good job is necessary.

We can find people working hard devoting their daily 9 to 5 to their office tasks, factory activities or door to door marketing sales. Many people are happy for that because of the financial reward. But on the other side, are they happy with their jobs?

We need to get one thing clear here, job is something you do to earn a living. This definition does not carry the quality side of life nor does it refer to their psychological standings. You work and you get paid, full stop. Some people are quite tolerable with that consequence.

But if it is career you want, we need to look at other aspects apart from a mere work and money. This is where the depth of psychological state comes in. For some, money matter does come into conversation although lacking in passion. Career is something that you build in time according to passion.

So we need to distinguish your work activities between work and career. If you do your job right but without passion, you need to ask yourself whether you would like a career of it. Because career needs long and strong endurance of time and energy, something that might last a lifetime. If you have passion over something, then you will go back to it no matter how big the distortion can be. Yet this is not a matter of right or wrong. This is a matter of choice. It would be very satisfying to work in a field that you like. Or on the other hand, compromise with the work that you do as a cause of lack of choices. What are you passionate about? In the case of workaholic, whatever changes of jobs he or she may come across it is not career, for the passion is to work. In such a case it is fair enough to say that this kind of workers are also looking for specific unfounded career, although money does come to consideration.

But for those who are in a situation of talking about work with an old friend over cups of coffee, start by thinking the passion within you, it can be the source of your career once you are able to define passion.

Useful Tips for Current and Aspiring FBI Agents

By Kenneth Echi

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is not only one of the more prominent law enforcement agencies in the US but is also among the most respected in the world. Established in 1908, the agency uses various forensic techniques to analyze crimes. The immortalization of the FBI in contemporary culture including many Hollywood movies has seen many young people aspire for positions in this federal agency.

As with any job, the likelihood of having a successful career is largely hinged on the amount of information one has as to the workings of the industry. The following are some of the tips both aspiring and current FBI agents must familiarize themselves with.

Know the minimum entry requirements:

Before you are accepted, prepare to undergo a string of assessments, background checks and interviews that you must pass. If you are applying to join the FBI, remember that the agency has two types of entry level jobs: support staff and special agent.

Know the different roles at the bureau:

Being a special agent is admittedly one of the more prominent and likely more exciting jobs in the FBI. Aside from educational and experience requirements, to become an effective FBI agent you need to be in excellent physical shape. Part of the job will demand pursuing the bad guys. In addition, you may be called upon to physically defend yourself in the course of duty. This is why new agents are taught both self-defense techniques as well as firearm training. The FBI places so much importance on such training that it has developed a training town known as Hogan's Alley. In Hogan's Alley, agents can practice what they have learned in class in simulated real world crime situations.

Though most people are somewhat familiar with the role of FBI agents, the FBI is not only made up of special agents. Behind the scenes are the support staff that play a big role in catching criminals. This group consists of experts in different fields including scientists, cryptologists, analysts, fingerprint experts, linguists, computer technicians, engineers and even writers. Together they use their skills to analyze crime scene data that can subsequently be used during prosecution.

Prepare for FBI training:

FBI training is an eighteen week long program that prepares agents for field operations and life as an agent. Carried out at the bureau's Academy in Quantico, Virginia, agents undergo defense training, firearm management, police science and personal fitness. Plan to excel during this training as it will not only place you in better position to advance faster through the ranks, but it also makes you better prepared for life threatening situations.

Day to day duties of an agent:

Before an agent can go into the field, they must first review case files for every crime they will be investigating. FBI agents work in close partnership with other law enforcement officers meaning that the cases they are investigating may already have compiled information in case files held by another law enforcement arm of government. For an FBI agent to thrive in their role, they must be prepared to examine crime scenes, interrogate suspects and witnesses as well as consult with subject matter experts.

It is hard to cover everything you need to know to become a successful Federal Bureau Investigation agent in a short article as this. I would encourage you to do more research on the internet.
